Welcome to European Gospel Radio!

European Gospel Radio is an international public service promoted by NEXUS-International Broadcasting Association, a non-denominational, non profit organization that operates since 1979. Access to EGR is open to all who have a Christian message to broadcast to the world, regardless of their denomination or Church affiliation.

We are not just airing to Europe, but to the world! We operate streaming radio and TV channels and powerful Shortwave transmitters on behalf of several Christian organizations, and can reach any region of the world, even on a short notice. Our 150 kW radio transmitters are the best cost-effective options for covering all of the Middle East, Europe and Africa. With highly directional antennas we can extend our coverage to farther away countries like India, China, the Americas and the Pacific.

Our mission is to help in every way possible to make your Christian radio mission a success.

The following information and advice is offered in this spirit. It goes without saying that we stand ready to answer any specific or additional questions that you may have. If you are a religious program producer or broadcaster looking for Internet, Shortwave or International AM/Medium Wave radio coverage or satellite TV in Europe and the USA, please contact us with any question.

Host Allen Graham presents DX Partyline, a 15-minute program now on European Gospel Radio dedicated to the hobby of Shortwave DXing, or distant listening on radio. The program produced weekly at HCJB, the Voice of the Andes, in Quito, Ecuador, has a strong Christian flavour, reports also on Church and Christianity issues and news. DX Partyline's main aim, however, is to help listeners around the world with tips, loggings, news, with special features and reports from contributors worldwide on radio listening, latest communication news, listeners' gatherings and much more.

DX Partyline Allen Graham on www.egradio.org"Globally, radio continues to be an effective medium that can reach into people’s homes, touch hearts, and change lives. HCJB Global strongly believes in that medium, and we are continually doing whatever it takes so that all may hear ... and know ... and grow ... and pass it on."

We are glad that we have been given the opportunity to present DX Partyline weekly to our listeners in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The program is also relayed via Internet on the WorldDirector streaming network. As usual, your letters, email and comments are welcome and greatly appreciated by our broadcasters. Check our online schedules for latest times and frequencies.

At the end of last year European Gospel Radio started three daily hours on high power Shortwave (150 kW) beamed to Africa, specifically to the most troubled areas of Sudan and Darfur. These broadcasts, however, can be heard all over the African continent.

Calling Africa on ShortwaveWith a south directional beam from Europe, our signal reaches extremely well the whole African continent, from Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia on the Mediterranean, East, Central and West Africa all the way down to South Africa, and the greatest part of Southern and Central Europe as well. The program is produced directly in Sudan, aired locally on a few FM stations in larger towns, and then transferred live by satellite to our station.

From Europe we then beam it on Shortwave so that people in the remote areas of Africa can pick up the signal on Shortwave radios. So far. after six months of regular broadcasts, the results have been great, and we all feel blessed of being able to provide some relief to these troubled regions.

During 2008-2009 we will focus even more on additional Shortwave broadcasts to Africa, the Middle/Far East and Asia (especially India, Pakistan and China), where there is large number of English speaking listeners that can receive Shortwave signals. These broadcasts require using different time slots and different antennas from our main European/Middle East beam.

a Christian schedule on ShortwaveHigh power Shortwave radio broadcasts are quite expensive to run, even if the rewarding in absolutely fantastic. There is no other media today to be blessed with such a wide area, and such a large number of listeners at any one time. Even the Internet cannot beat a small portable Shortwave radio outside of large towns, and especially if you are bringing your message to the poorest regions in the world like Africa, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe.

During almost 20 years of operation on Shortwave, we discovered that good advice is essential for every mission. And we are here to help any of you to reach out in the most effective way.

And this is one important piece of advice, often misunderstood by occasional and small program producers: Airing just one weekly program, alone, on one frequency, for just a few minutes once a week is like trowing money and your own efforts away, but becoming part of a Christian schedule is the most effective way to reach out, if you do not have the resources to air for many hours per day. But... why?

From time to time a Christian Ministry would inquire whether we would be able to provide them with their own frequency on Shortwave, their own time slot, for a certain target area. Of course we can, and we can provide any Christian station or program producer with a detailed plan, transmitter, schedule, coverage maps and frequencies and get them started on a very short time. However, we recommend this solution to those who have at least one full hour of programing to air. If not, will anybody catch you on the air with just a 15 or 30 minute slot, maybe only once a week? The simple answer is: no way!

If you are looking for international exposure for less than 3 hours per week it's quite important that you consider placing your message over a station that has a consistent, Christian schedule, and an established listener basis over a long number of hours every week.

a Christian schedule on ShortwaveOf course Shortwave stations do change frequencies every day, and every season, in order to get the best reception conditions in their target areas. This is typical of Shortwave, and different from AM or FM stations that use one single frequency. However, never commit to a transmitter that airs less than a full 3 hour segment, if you are looking for a real audience, not just a signal in the middle of nowhere.

Piggy-backing a Christian programming segment, is not simply an option on Shortwave, but a strategy that you should strongly consider when trying to establish your audience. Come along, then, on a 'shoulder ride' with our strong Christian schedule over European Gospel Radio.

Anyone who wants to talk to Europe, Middle and Far East, Africa and beyond by radio, with high power and in the most cost-effective manner.

Do you remember the pictures that went around the world during the Gulf and recently during the Iraq War, showing people glued to their Shortwave radios to get the latest news from the outside world? During those crisis, Shortwave again demonstrated its importance and effectiveness.

Who needs EGRFor all the talk of satellite radio and TV, Shortwave radio remains the most cost-effective electronic mass medium that can span enormous distances instantly and penetrate into every home in Europe. In addition, Shortwave radio is portable, and is a companion wherever one goes. It is truly the world's most mobile electronic mass medium. Modern Shortwave receivers are ultra-compact and very easy to use.

European Gospel Radio mission is to offer all Christian broadcasters and program producers direct access to tens of millions of listeners.

EGR now bundles free Internet services, such as streaming, podcasting and Web hosting, to complement any radio broadcasts and enable every program producer to reach the widest possible audience.

More powerful Christian broadast to Europe, MIddle East, India, China and AfricaAfter a short break, as of Nov. 24, 2006, European Gospel Radio completes the upgrade to 150 kW for most of its broadcasts, that can now be heard with a never-so loud signal on all of our target areas, including Europe, Middle East, North Africa, China, and India.

Here is what our listeners say during November and December:

"Signal was simply blowing, quite a local fm service. By using the Sinpo code, I'd rate it 5555"

"Lovely signal on 5775 here on my Sony ICF SW 7600 G this evening, just like a local-ish medium wave station, with the occasional fade. Probably the best signal I've ever heard, though once on 7120 you were booming in during an evening b'cast, I think after a lightning strike on your 3985 antenna."

Listening to European Gospel Radio from Africa and Iraq"It is a great joy to have a program on your station. For many years, there has been a very strong urge in me to spread the gospel as far and wide as possible. Being with your organization has helped in meeting that need.

I am a member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Homer, Georgia. I have been preaching the gospel for fifty years. It has been our privilege to be on several radio and television stations for many years. I seldom do the television programs due to them not being located in our area.

By all of these outlets, we have only one goal, and that is to see the lost saved everywhere, and God honored for his saving lost sinners. God has blessed us richly to receive favorable reports from many places in the world.

But the rest of the world is not like the United States in terms of their access to this kind of information technology. There are places where there is no substitute for radio." (Art Chimes war time correspondent and producer at the Voice of America commenting a resolution of the US agency to increase its broadcasts to Middle East).
